In Loving Memory of Anita Myra Johnson

Anita Myra Johnson, beloved daughter of Dewey Johnson and Betty Johnson, was born on May 16, 1950, and peacefully departed this life on June 8, 2026.

Anita graduated from Marietta High School in 1968. An exceptional student, she earned straight A’s and distinguished herself as a talented gymnast. Her dedication and perseverance earned her an invitation to the Olympic Trials. Although she was unable to pursue that opportunity, the discipline and determination that made it possible remained hallmarks of her character throughout her life.

Shortly after graduation, she married and began building the family that became the center of her world.

At 19, Anita welcomed her first child, Diana. She went on to raise nine more children: Melissa, James, Ramon, Sofia, Steven, Rhonda, Toya, Shane, and Ronald. She also lovingly helped care for her godsons, Eric and William Holland, the children of her best friend, Denise Holland. Anita cherished her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known as a mother figure to all who needed love, encouragement, a warm meal, or a place to stay. She never hesitated to open her heart and home to others.

While Anita was a devoted homemaker, she also worked at Richard’s Carryout, a place that held special memories for her family and played an important role in their childhood years.

Many will remember Anita for her thoughtful advice, compassionate spirit, and ability to offer comfort and guidance when it was needed most.

Anita’s greatest achievement was the family she built and the countless lives she touched. She taught those around her to love deeply, persevere through hardship, and always make room for one more at the table.

Her care extended beyond her immediate family to grandchildren, relatives, friends, and many children who came to know her as a source of comfort and support. Anita had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued.

Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in the memories she leaves behind and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on through the family, friends, and loved ones she cherished.
