It is with a twinkle in my eye and a heart full of memories that I, Norma Lou Milton, known to my loved ones as Norm or Gert, take a moment to reflect on the journey that was my life. Born in Louisa, KY on the radiant autumn day of October 14, 1972, I spent my years being funny, compassionate, and unapologetically myself. As Oscar Wilde once said, "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." A sentiment that I proudly lived by.
My life took me from the rolling hills of Kentucky to the bustling city of Columbus, Ohio, where I spent 17 memorable years. I found joy in the simplest of things. Whether it was scrolling through TikTok till the wee hours of the morning or pouring my heart into a poem, these little joys were the fragments that made my life whole. But the brightest part of my universe has always been my grandkids, who brought an unparalleled joy and meaning to my life. I am survived by my dear son Joshua Milton and my loving son Brandon Luster, my devoted husband Ricardo Ruiz, my caring sister Mary Stewart, and my precious nieces Angela and Ashley Stewart.
I join my beloved parents Clarence and Charlene Raines, and my dear son Clarence Raines, in the next chapter of this cosmic journey. It is said that "life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." While I may have left this physical world on June 3, 2026, my spirit lives on, in the laughter of my grandkids, in the words of my poems, and in the hearts of those I loved.
Let us celebrate the life I lived, filled with laughter, love, and compassion on Thursday, 25 Jun 2026 at 1:00pmEDT at the Cook & Son Funeral Home & Crematory, 1631 Parsons Ave, Columbus, Ohio, 43207. I invite you all to remember me as I was, and as I will always be in your hearts. Please feel free to share your cherished memories and photos on my memorial page. It would mean the world to me to know that my life touched yours, even in the tiniest way. To quote Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
