Life of an ADDICT
by Virginia "Jeanne" Williams

The life of an addict is something hard to explain.
It's the shakes that I get that keeps me bonded to its chain.
It's a love-hate relationship from an addict as a mother.
All my troubles are here, they still remain the same.
The life of an addict is really not a game.
I live my life in fear from day to day.
I ask myself "why do I live my life this way?"
I thank God it wasn't you, you'll never know the fear
You'll never know the shame and guilt that is always near.
In the life of an addict, there is never room for change.
It's always me inside myself, looking for a new range.
My minds so full of thoughts throughout the lonely days.
I pray to God to help me, in so many ways
Sometimes things may seem easy I'll put a smile on my face.
But then I look around me, I'm still in this cold, cold place.
I lie here and think about the venom going through my veins.
Then I look at myself again and I'm tired of these cold metal chains.
The life of an addict is what I face every day.
As I look at this life, this game I choose to play.
I pray to God for forgiveness and my family to.
I ask myself over and over again "What can I do?"
Please do not judge me, for the life I lived
For God is my judge and I know he will forgive.
Just be by my side as I go day to day
Please be my family and friend in every single way.
As one addict to another please don't let my struggles be in vain.
